Accessibility
The near ubiquity of mobile phones around the world has made the usability and accessibility of the devices increasingly important issues for the industry and our major stakeholders and customers.
The MMF is currently working on a number of projects in this area, including:
- Supporting a research project at the House Ear Institute in the United States to improve the scientific rationale underpinning the ANSI C63.19 Hearing Aid Compatibility standard;
- Working with stakeholders and interest groups to better understand the needs of customers with disabilities; and
- Working to harmonise consumer information relating to the features of phones that may be of interest to users with accessibility issues;
The MMF has also developed a new stand alone accessibility website that assists users to learn more about the accessibility features of different phones and to find a phone that best suits their needs. The website is available at: www.mobileaccessibility.info |
